This woodcut print features the original artwork I created for Dogfish Head’s 2026 Festina Pêche can, a light, refreshing sour beer brewed with peaches. The summer design is based on a Medusa-like spirit, with the bite of her snakes representing the beer’s subtle tartness.

Print Method: One color woodcut

Paper: French Paper Banana Split 100 lb Cardstock

The Woodcut Process

Each design began as a drawing that I transferred onto a woodblock and cleaned up with a Sharpie. I then darkened the block with ink so I could better see what I was carving away. Every line I cut becomes negative space, while the raised areas catch the ink and create the finished image. Think of it like a big stamp.

I printed the final editions on a Vandercook Universal III at my friend’s letterpress shop, The Arm, in Brooklyn.
