The Keeshond gets its name from Kees de Gyselaer, who led the Patriots in a political uprising in Holland in the 18th Century. The dogs were often used as a guard and companion on Dutch vessels. They are often referred to as "Smiling Dutchman" because of their tendency to curl their lips and bare their teeth giving off a goofy smile.
8.5” x 11” open edition screen-print, black ink on speckle tone off white paper, hand printed and signed by the artist.
