A five color screen print created for Dead and Company's 6th weekend of their 2025 residency at the Las Vegs Sphere for their May 15, 16, and 17 shows. These prints are signed by the artist (me!) and numbered in an Artist Proof edition of 45. Because these are so limited I am only offering one print per customer.
When I was asked to create a poster for Dead & Co., I instantly knew I wanted to carve my own version of the Terrapins. One of my biggest influences for the animal characters in my work is Heinrich Kley, who originally drew the jamming turtles that Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley referenced to create the Terrapin Station album art.
I thought the way a classic fishing bobber’s color is split in half would be a natural fit for the “Steal Your Face” logo, and came up with the idea of the turtles fishing in a pond, with the bobber creating a “ripple in still water.” I quickly realized the lily pond I had in mind didn’t make much sense for Las Vegas, so I changed the landscape to a dried-up wash in the Nevada desert, with Terrapin Station high up on a hill in the background. Once the whole scene came together, I realized it ended up being a pretty solid reference to some of my favorite Dead songs with Western outlaw themes like “Me and My Uncle” and “Friend of the Devil.”
