Do you know the reason for the Beagle's big ears? According to the breed standard for Beagles, their ears should reach the tip of their nose. This actually helps them with their smelling because scent particles get trapped in their ears and bring the smell right up to their nose. Their trademark white tip tail is another physical trait that helps with hunting. With their nose to the ground and tail in the air, the white tip was a way to make the dog more visible to the hunter.
