The Basset Hound’s name is derived from the French word “bas”, meaning “low thing”. In 1500 France, they were aiming to develop a slow-moving breed that could be followed on rabbit (and other small game) hunts. Bassets have one of the best senses of smell of all dogs, second to only the Bloodhound and 40 times stronger than a human.

8.5” x 11” open edition screen-print, black ink on speckle tone off white paper, hand printed and signed by the artist.
